The five towns of Ehrwald, Biberwier, Lermoos, Berwang and Bichlbach are only a couple of kilometres from one another in a long valley. Thanks to the construction of the Ehrwalder Zugspitzbahn (the Ehrwald railway line), the winter sports possibilities for skiing around these towns are great, with the slopes of a large glacier which are always covered in snow.
You can go skiing here up to a height of 2800 metres. The total length of the slopes in the five areas is as much as 100 kilometres. The winter sports area is also known to be a great destination for families, in part due to the reasonable prices.
A number of ski lifts run from right outside Ehrwald, which allow you to get to the valley station of the Zugspitzarena without having to use a car or bus. You can get to the Zugspitzplateau, which is between 2300 and 2830 metres high and is snow-covered until spring, in the same way. This area is perfect not only for beginners; all-rounders and snowboarders can find their dream slopes here as well. Although the Ehrwald Plateau is a sunny location, the snow on the pistes and runs stays fresh for a long time. Towns such as Biberwier, Lermoos and Berwang also all have their own ski lifts and are a perfect starting point for both beginners and advanced skiers. Cross-country skiers and hikers can choose from many kilometres of runs and hiking paths enjoying themselves to their hearts content!
