Nestled in the foothills of the Ore Mountains between Meissen, Freiberg, and Dresden, the Villa Rotschönberg stretches for one kilometer along the Freiberger Mulde river, surrounded by parks and its own private forest. This former industrialist's villa boasts a long history: since 1830, it was part of a silver ore processing plant, later serving as the manor house of a cardboard factory. In 1904, all the factory buildings were rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style. The cardboard factory burned down in 1958; only the villa survived. Because such a charming yet secluded location is rare, the artist TM Rotschönberg meticulously reconstructed the building and the entire estate to the highest standards, making it available to vacationers. He crafted all the furniture himself to complement the elegance of this Art Nouveau villa. From here, you can take excursions to Saxon Switzerland or Augustusburg Castle. The signposted Mulde Cycle Path runs alongside the property, and various cycling tours starting and ending at the house can be planned along field and forest paths. Hiking trails through the landscape shaped by silver mining also invite active tourists, who can admire not only the still-pristine nature but also numerous technical monuments. Those who don't want to leave the 40,000 m² estate at all are equally well advised, as the tranquil idyll of the park and riverbank is as relaxing as swimming in the clear waters of the Mulde is invigorating.
Art enthusiasts can take a multi-day printmaking course where they can learn the linocut printing technique known as "lost cut." TM Rotschönberg leads this course and provides the printing press and all materials.
Guests rent the entire second floor, which has 200 m² of space and includes four bedrooms, a living room, a large kitchen, two bathrooms and a club room with a pool table, electronic organ and library.
We've just spent a wonderful two weeks at Villa Rotschönberg. Fantastic, spacious apartment with four good-sized bedrooms and plenty of living space for our family of six people. A very well-equipped kitchen, a cosy living room and best of all - a pool table! It was our first visit to this part of Germany and the apartment was a great base for exploring the area - Freiberg and Dresden are close by and we also enjoyed daytrips to Pirna and Wittenberg. There's plenty of outdoor space and even a river for paddling / swimming - perfect on hot days. Or if you prefer, you can visit the outdoor swimming baths at Freiberg or nearby Nossen. Our hosts, Tom and Tanja, were very friendly and helpful. We hope to visit again some day!
We hebben enorm genoten van twee weken in dit prachtige appartement. Ondanks dat het veel regende hebben we ons niet verveeld. In de omgeving is genoeg te zien, en de jongens hebben veelvuldig gebruik gemaakt van de pooltafel. Tom en Tanja, enorm bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid, en hopelijk tot ziens!
Really spacious and neat apartment. The surroundings are lovely (woods, hills, nice villages and towns) and not so many tourists as you will find in other parts of Europe. Tom and Tanja are great hosts and very willing to share ideas and tips for visits.
Sehr schöne uns außergewöhnliche Ferienwohnung in absoluter Einsamkeit. Trotzdem aber so zentral gelegen, das wir Dresden, Leipzig, Meißen, Radebeul und sogar Prag gut erreichen konnten. In dem Flüsschen direkt am Haus konnte gebadet werden und die Eigentümer waren wirklich außerordentlich freundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt!
Saubere und gut ausgestattete Unterkunft mit ganz besonderer Atmosphäre in sehr ruhiger Lage, die viel Platz auch für größere Familien bietet. Ideal, um Wanderungen in der Umgebung zu unternehmen. Nette und hilfsbereite Vermieter, mit denen man inspirierende Gespräche führen kann. Wir haben dort eine sehr erholsame Herbstwoche umgeben von wunderbar gefärbten Bäumen erlebt und kommen gerne wieder!
Die Wohnung ist hell und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Außenanlagen bieten viel Platz zum Relaxen. Im Fluß gebadet werden, Badeschuhe sind empfehlenswert. Das Haus liegt abgeschieden, es ist dort sehr ruhig.
The accommodation is beautifully surrounded by a small forest and the Freiberger Mulde, and is an ideal spot to start a hike, mountain bike ride or city trip. The house itself has been very well constructed by the owner, who as a professional artist has a keen eye for aesthetics and quality. From here you can easily reach multiple POI's such as Freiberg, Meissen, Dresden, Leipzig, Prague and of course the Sächsischen Schweiz. The owner, his wife and his son are very nice, warm and friendly people who will make every effort to make you feel welcome. We will return next year!
